Our musicians have numerous years experienced combined performing with orchestras, on recording sessions and vocal artists.
Our musicians all hold at least a Bachelor's degree in music and many of them hold advanced degrees.
Most importantly, our musicians have played many wedding ceremonies, providing quality musicianship for groups small to large. Our musicians are well-versed in a variety of musical genres, such as: Classical, Broadway, Rock and Pops.
Shepherd Music Group offers a variety of ensemble (solo, duo, quartet, etc) and instrumentation (strings, piano, harp, etc) choices to suit your personal taste.
Joshua Shepherd, Artistic Director
Joshua Shepherd studied violin and voice at Dillard School of the Arts, Fort Lauderdale, before graduating in 1998. He then went on to attain his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with an emphasis on viola from Florida Atlantic University in 2002. In 2004, Joshua received his Master’s degree in Instrumental Conducting and Viola Performance from the University of South Florida, Tampa. From 2004 to the present, Joshua has played in various Florida ensembles such as the Venice Symphony, Port Charlotte Symphony, Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra, Central Florida Symphony, Palm Beach Pops, Symphony of the Americas, Space Coast Pops, Miami Symphony and the Palm Beach Opera. He also has performed with such distinguished artists as Bernadette Peters, Rod Stewart, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Frank Sinatra Jr., Arturo Sandoval, Jon Secada and Nestor Torres. In May 2011, Mr. Shepherd graduated from the University of Miami with a Doctorate in Viola Performance.

Michael O'Geiblyn, Violin and Viola
An accomplished violinist, violist, and versatile musician, Michael O’Gieblyn navigates across the classical and commercial genres with musical ease and professional excellence. Currently a member of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and the Huntsville (AL) Symphony Orchestra, Michael is also a substitute violinist for the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and the Louisville Orchestra. He has previously performed with the Erie Philharmonic, the Chattanooga Symphony, and many other local orchestras.
Michael has recorded for many award winning albums, video games, and movie soundtracks, and has performed live with many country and CCM artists including Ray Price, Jars of Clay, Casting Crowns, Steven Curtis Chapman, Matt Maher, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Natalie Grant and many more.
Michael graduated honors from Carnegie Mellon University where he studied with Cyrus Forough, and also received a Masters of Music degree in violin performance from Belmont University as a student of Elisabeth Small.
Avery Bright, Violin and Viola
Avery Bright is a violinist based out of Nashville, TN. He received his BM in Violin performance and pedagogy at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, and recently completed his MM in commercial performance styles at Belmont University. He spends his days recording, performing, and teaching violin and fiddle in Nashville. He recently released a 6-song instrumental EP, available for free download on Noisetrade. Avery loves music, fly fishing, and his lovely wife of three years, Ashley.

Chuck Callahan, Violin
Chuck Callahan has graduated with a degree of classical violin performance from Belmont University. Since then he has performed with the Nashville Opera, the Huntsville Symphony, concertmaster for the Shoals Symphony, concertmaster for the Belmont Symphony, and the Music City Hit-Makers Orchestra. He has also had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses for teachers such as Stephen Clapp, Almita Vamos, Catherine Cho, and Brian Lewis. Chuck has won the NFMC State Solo Instrumental Competition twice in the state of Missouri and made he made his soloist debut in 2009 with the Cleveland Institute Orchestra on Mendelssohn’s E minor violin concerto.
Pilar Suter, Cello
Pilar Suter is a classically trained cellist who performs and has lived around the world. Pilar is a top sight reader and has studied with Ross Harbaugh, University of Miami’s cello professor, for over ten years. She has performed and recorded for popular artists including Mariah Carey, George Benson, Afro Jack, Maxwell, and Gloria Estefan. Pilar has focused on her passion of classical music, and performs with a number of quartets including Baby B Strings, Armonia Music, and Elan Artists.
Pilar attended the University of Miami for her undergraduate and graduate studies. Recognizing the importance of giving back to the community, Pilar greatly enjoys participating in non-profit organizations focusing on music mentoring programs. Pilar has been a mentor of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony and Arts for Learning, as well as a teacher for the Coral Gables Community Arts Program. Pilar also volunteers for Musicians on Call, a national organization of musicians delivering in-room performances to patients in hospitals.
Paula Bressman, Harp
Paula Elizabeth Bressman, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, enjoys bringing the harp to new audiences and genres through innovative collaborations, educational engagement and diverse programming. Equally at home performing Bach and Debussy as she is playing pop and rock, Paula has taken her harp to concert halls, clubs and small live music venues, barns, churches, museums, and even the streets of downtown Nashville. Paula enjoys an active and varied performance career, playing regularly with orchestras including the Nashville Symphony and Orchestra Kentucky Bowling Green, in the groundbreaking harp duo Beyond Pluck, with the Belmont University faculty's Adelicia Trio, as part of singer-songwriter Korby Lenker's band, and has added her signature warm and musically-sensitive style to several commercially-released albums.
A passionate music educator, Paula is on faculty at Belmont University and Austin Peay State University. Paula earned her Bachelor of Music at Vanderbilt University with Marian Shaffer and her Master of Music from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Gillian Benet Sella.
James DeSilva, Guitar
James DaSilva is a session guitarist, composer, and educator living in Nashville, TN. He has quickly established himself as one of the brightest talents in the Nashville Jazz community. A recent graduate of Belmont University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Business, James has played with some of the greatest jazz artists and musicians in the world, including Dr. Lonnie Smith, Victor Wooten, Rodney Whittaker, John Ellis, Cyrus Chestnut, the Jeff Coffin Mu’tet and Chester Thompson.
